In the first version of this painting, the artist drew an imaginary brothel, inspired by the great painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec in 1998.
In the second version of this work, the artist focused on the female archetypes pointed out by G. Carl Jung. The artist saw these archetypes as “definitions that label and limit women”. She soon realized that by remembering her feminine side, she would liberate her feminine energy and spirit. As a result, she realized that being a free spirit is one of the most necessary ascension efforts to be human. The more women allow their souls to be free, the more they realize the sanctity of their femininity, the more they free themselves and become wiser.
The artist revised this painting, which she made in 1998 and experimented on in 2021, from a different perspective with a new meaning and concept, and recreated its final version in 2022. She came to the conclusion that two opposing archetypes are one and free with a new energy and perspective. The "bitch and virgin archetypes" are the two "female archetypes" that are under the pressure of society and most in need of freedom, social and internal balance, peace and tranquility. These figures were enthusiastically evaluated with the metaphorical expressions of the artist and repainted over the concepts of freedom, peace and balance. Mother Earth shook her skirts in Turkey. She revealed the energy she had hidden for 500 years. The artist describes this work in her own words: I designed this work long before the big earthquake that hit Turkey on February 6th. My spiritual Mexican grandmother, whom I met on Facebook and felt this way Spiritually, wrote to me that she turned 80 in November 2022 and wanted to see a picture of a Mexican woman in colorful clothes I made before she died. İtwas a joke but now I kept my word and made this picture.
Now after the earthquake, I make peace with death in both Turkish and Mexican traditions, we both live in a time and culture where the living and the dead intersect, and we know that we dance with life and death in this life, until one day it takes us from this colorful garment of death and life to eternity.
